The 3rd Lair
February 22, 2007 – 12:31 pm
Last night Slim and I ventured over to the west side of the cities to go to the 3rd Lair skate park. One of the members on Morc had setup a bikers only night from 9 to 11pm. Having never photographed bmx street before I decided to bring my camera along. The place was a bit overwhelming with what must have been 50 riders using the small indoor facility. I was a bit nervous since I didn’t know the etiquette for shooting in a place like this but I got out my camera anyhow. I took a few photos but didn’t have as much success as I’d hoped. I think the key to shooting this kind of sport is to know one or two riders who can go out for a private session and that way you can work on getting your lights setup perfectly for the shot. My fly by the seat of my pants technique is below ![]()

Abstract Extract
February 7, 2007 – 1:05 pm
It has been far to long since I brewed a batch of home brew so I decided to remedy that this week by brewing not one but two batches. Last night I pulled out all my brewing gear, cleaned, and sanitized it and brewed up an extra pale ale extract kit. Tomorrow night I’m heading over to Andy’s to to brew a 10 gallon batch of Cream Ale with him and Tom.

Ahh the smell of boiling hops! Yum!
Saint Paul Winter Carnival
February 3, 2007 – 8:02 pm
The Saint Paul Winter Carnival is billed as the nation’s oldest and largest winter festival. Today it might just have been also considered the coldest. The temperature dipped down into the negative double digits and as far down as negative forty when factoring in the wind chill. Despite the bitter cold Laura, Greg, Katie, and I ventured down to Harriet Island to promote Laura and Katie’s magazines (Saint Paul Illustrated, Woodbury, and St. Croix Valley magazine) as well as take part in a few of the festivities that were happening.
