I demoed a VholdR Countour HD camera from my work and took it for a ride at Salem Hills with my dog Calvin. It’s a “lipstick” style camera so there is no video screen to see what exactly you are capturing. The model I used produced HD quality video with a 1280×720 resolution, not bad for something that will set you back less than 300 dollars. I had limited options when it came to mounting the camera but looking online it appears that you can purchase a number of different mounting solutions. I think adding a simple tripod mount to the bottom would have been ideal.

I put this together in about an hour or riding and then another hour of editing in Apple’s iMovie.

Minnesota Cyclocross State Championships

The biggest weekend of cyclocross in the history of Minnesota. The 10th Anniversary of the Shimano Minnesota State Cyclocross Championships at Bassett Park in Crystal, Mn. A light rain the night before made the course nice and tacky and a bit slick in spots. The over two hundred racers that preregistered brought along a crowd of spectators. The atmosphere was great with the “stairway to hell” crowded from top to bottom.

Our Weimaraner/Black lab mix Calvin, aka Buddy Boy, aka Calvin Poo and I stopped for a little rest and a drink of water while riding Salem the other day and I was so inclined to take a photograph.
