The wedding of Leslie Wilcox to Dan Rosedahl took place on the first rainy day of the summer, but with a crew and couple as rambunctious as these two, no weather could dampen the spirits, and as Dan so wisely pointed out, “a wet knot is almost impossible to untie.”

Leslie got her hair done at Estetica off Selby, in a secret alcove under Nina’s Cafe. Dan started the day at Heimie’s Haberdashery, where the men had tuxes fitted and he got a custom suit, as well as a hair cut and food catered by Great Waters.

The wedding party met up at Westin Hotel in Minneapolis, where Leslie got dressed and then everyone shot some photos after Dan & Leslie’s first meeting.

The group made its way to Newport, Minn., for the ceremony, in a downpour. Newport Lutheran Church was an intimate, cozy setting that Laura got lost trying to find in a downpour (Scott was already in the party bus with the wedding party). She made it in plenty of time for the family portraits.

Due to the rain, we skipped on outdoor photos but did get some portraits of the wedding party back at the Town & Country Club (incredible! St. Paul’s oldest country club and Minnesota’s first golf course).

The cakes were by Buttercream.

It’s always so endearing when there are “longest married” dances, etc.; in Dan & Leslie’s case, one set of grandparents have been married 65 years. Congrats to them, and to you, Dan & Leslie!

Wed: Emerald & Peter

It’s wedding season! Our first wedding of the year took us all over Saint Paul on a gorgeous, sunny, 70-something May 30.

We started the day at Nina’s Cafe, where we stopped to get a quick coffee before meeting the bride down the street at 526. But to our surprise, the bride was at Nina’s, so we started the day of shooting a little early. Two medium lattes later, we were in the gallery/salon-spa snapping away.

At around 10:30, Laura took off to Maplewood to photograph the men’s brunch and some detail ring shots.

Meanwhile, Scott and the ladies went next door to Fleur de Lis to pick up the flowers, then grabbed a bite to eat at Cheeky Monkey, also on the same street. Then it was on to the University Club to get changed. The men joined at 1 p.m. and waited outside.

First meeting was in the historic library at the club, then on to Mears Park for some casual shots of couple and wedding party.

The ceremony itself was at Weyerhaeuser Chapel on the Macalester Campus.

After a stop at the Grand Ole Creamery, we ended back at the University Club for reception, dinner and dance.

Overall, a great start to our 2009 wedding season.

Wed: Sarah & Josh

Sarah & Josh got married on a sunny Aug. 2, 2008. We met Josh through mutual friends at Red Bull, and immediately we connected over our mutual love of the energy drink and kickball. Sarah had her hair and makeup done at Spalon Montage in Woodbury.

Both Josh and Sarah got ready at hotels near their reception site of Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale, Sarah at Wildwood Lodge and Josh at Holiday Inn Express.

After stopping off at Target to pick up some black socks for the best man, the bride and groom met up at Rice Park in Saint Paul to catch a first moment together before the ceremony began.

Sarah had to reserve her date a year and a half ahead of time to secure Saint Paul’s Cathedral, and the architecture of the historic building is more than worth it. The Cathedral is prepping and raising money for a $30 million renovation.

All of the floral decorations were created by Josh’s dad.

One of the things we selfishly really enjoyed about Sarah & Josh was their wililngness to do just about anything in their wedding clothes. From a trip to McDonalds to Kellogg Park to traipsing across and even getting down on the grass at the golf course, it was clear they were having the best day of their lives, and it made our job of capturing their moments so enjoyable.

Wed: Anne & Jesse

I’ve known Anne since the first day of classes our freshmen year at college when she came up to me and said “you’re going to be my friend” and what do you know I did become her friend. So when she told me she had gotten engaged I was ecstatic and I was even more ecstatic when she and Jesse told me they wanted Laura and I to be their photographers.

Jesse’s daughter was absolutely adorable all day.

The ceremony and reception was held at the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center.� These cute pink flamingos marked the way.

This has to be the coolest cake I have ever photographed.

I think my favorite shot of the day was this moment between Jesse and his daughter on the dancefloor.

What a great weekend

This past weekend Laura and I attended our friend’s Jessop & Jen’s wedding in Saint Peter, Mn.� We were doing double duty as not only were we attending as guests but we also were their official photographers.� I really enjoy photographing people I know so well because you already have that immediate connection with them and its just so much easier to get into the flow of the day.

Friday night we went down and attended the groom’s dinner at Jen’s grandmother’s house, ate way to much food, played some bocce ball, got to meet a lot of the family and just had a nice relaxing evening.

Saturday we were up and running following along with the bride and groom documenting their day.� They were wed on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus.� The day started out gloomy but absolutely turned out to be a gorgeous day.� After the ceremony we traveled to Mankato for the reception.� Laura always complains that she is so jealous of everyone who gets to dance during weddings while we are taking photos.� It was nice to be able to put down the cameras a bit earlier than normal and get out on the dance floor our self.� I’m sure I thoroughly embarrassed myself not to mention I can only imagine those in attendance who didn’t realize we were more than just the photographers!

Sunday we slept in and then met up with most of our friends to take in one of the largest breakfast buffets I have ever seen.� It was literally forty feet of food.� Inside jokes: Sneezeoops and Seafood Lasagna!

To Jessop and Jen thanks for such a great weekend.� The two of you were absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to get caught up with all our other weddings so I can start editing yours.� For now a teaser!
