Midwest Freeride Community

Introducing a new regional organization for DH and Freeriders. The Midwest Freeride Community exists to “provide the resources, event development, and communication infrastructure necessary to unite and progress the Downhill and Freeride Mountain Bike scene throughout the Midwest.”  The group is the brainchild of local freeride advocates Adam Buck and Tony Benusa.  It has also been helped out with web design by Kris Yahner, film submissions from Alex Horner and photography by Ben Berndt and yours truly.

I know I am personally looking forward to trying to get out and cover the local scene more than I have in the past as it is a great group of guys and a really good time.  Heck maybe even this year I’ll learn how to properly put a little air between my wheels and the ground!

Erin & Kevin’s Engagment Session.

Let me just start off by saying that Erin and Kevin are fearless when it comes to getting the shot. You should have seen them trekking down into Minnehaha Falls. There were numerous slips and slides but everyone came out relatively unscathed.

We started out the day shooting in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park. With the recent cold spell we had been having I was wondering how much outside photography we would be able to stand, but at the end of the week the temps had raised, and after shooting in the conservatory for a little we were energized to get outside and enjoy the warm weather.

Our next stop was Minnehaha Falls where we made our way down the slippery steps and all the way out onto the frozen ice of the falls. Getting out onto the ice was a lot easier than getting back up to solid ground! Lastly we ventured our way into the city and spent the last bit of light at Saint Anthony Main shooting along the way to the Stone Arch Bridge and back.

Both Laura and I are really looking forward to shooting their wedding this October.

Winona Cherry Bomb – 2000

Continuing on with the blast from the past mountain bike videos archives here is a clip from the Winona Cherry Bomb back in the summer of 2000. Oh what beer, lack of riding everyday, and a slowing metabolism has done to my body 😀
