While we were in Saint Cloud for Red Bull’s Open Ice today Laura and I found time to stop in at McCann’s Food and Brew. With five of their own brewed beers on tap and a full menu it was the perfect way to warm up. I would highly recommend their Deep Seven IPA and a quesadilla.
A new sport?
I spent Saturday on the frozen ice of Hiniker Pond in Mankato, Mn for Red Bull’s Open Ice. Sitting on a shovel on a frozen pond….not warm. If you like to play pick-up hockey there are events planned for each weekend until the end of February. You do not need to have a team to come out and play just bring your skates and a helmet and you can get in on the friendly action. Check the website for details.
Thanks to Laura for the photo 🙂
Moving forward
The kitchen is starting to well look almost like a kitchen again. Can’t wait to get the flooring, tile, cabinets, appliances……. 🙂
Red Bull Open Ice
The game was once pure. Without cushy indoor arenas. Without concession stands selling year-old licorice. Without the steady drone of Euro-techno music.
We’re taking hockey back. To the frozen pond. Where players can experience the roots of the game. Where pur skill takes center stage. And where yetis make fresh kills in the background.
It’s called Red Bull Open Ice. And it’s a two month open invitation to participate in this beautiful game. Want more? We’re wrapping up winter with a 2-day tournament at the end of February. yes, the hockey gods would be proud.

Have you missed us?
I have to admit after the fire the blog really took a backseat to other things and then after I got things settled with the fire I had gotten out of my rythym. With the start of 2009 I’m looking to change that and get some content going again. I have quite a few things to blog as well as many more new oppurtunities in the future.
What better way to start the new year with a picture of our two dogs Calvin and Lucy.
